Mrs. Sarah Daou, a certified life and business empowerment coach, conducted a wonderfully planned and interesting session about motivation and growth for grades 10 and 11 students.
The session was an eye-opener for the students to understand what motivation is and how it functions. In fact, motivation, which is the mental drive that can direct human behavior, is of two types: intrinsic and extrinsic. The first means that it comes from within when people practice comprehensive knowledge and put a purpose to their life, such as setting objectives and working on them. As for extrinsic motivation, it comes from one’s surroundings and environment. The coach also dwelled on the values of life, asserting that these standards need to be respected and followed to help students determine their future.
This self-development session inspired the high schoolers to work on self-growth and develop their values. An important aspect of the session was to admit that failure is an opportunity to grow and to learn to always take the right path, even if it may require drastic changes. The students now know that finding their values, motivation and its sources, their dreams and purpose in life, are indeed difficult, but it's the only way that will lead them to success, self-love and happiness.
