Leadership Redefined!

13 mai 2021

Ever wondered what makes a leader stand out? Is it just the traits we know about or are there additional skills? In fact, in the session with Mr. Gilbert Doumit, we realized that there is much to leadership than what we know.

The training, which was highly interactive, took us on a journey in the self, where we discovered our points of strength and what we need to improve to be better leaders. We shared some personal experiences with him, and even though we were tired after a long day of studying, we enjoyed every bit of it. Mr. Doumit also shared his life lessons. This was an eye opener to us as we realized that it is OK to get tired and to feel helpless at times. After all, this is what also connects us to the others!

Mr. Doumit made us look at different situations from another perspective. For example, when we are tired, we usually feel down and do not connect with others. However, that is the time when we should feel empathy, and that is how we restore our energy. But, to be able to connect with the others, we first need to connect with ourselves. Thus, one method would be to put a reason for our goals. So, if one day, we want to quit, then we remember the reason, the drive behind what we want to seek.

One of the activities we did was drawing our life map. Here, we delved into our most intimate thoughts and feelings. In the training, we understood that there are three ways to influence the world despite all what is happening around:
1- By connecting with oneself (who I am)
2- By finding energy within
3- By leading when everyone is down (inspire the world)

This was an inspirational session that has triggered new aspirations in us as a young generation. We left the meeting better equipped with skills and knowledge about how to lead with passion, influence and purpose!
